Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps Sketch Challenge

If you are not familiar with Operation Write Home, it is a great opportunity for card makers to share their creations with our troops overseas.  I am in the process of going through my card stash and putting together a box of blank cards to send in!  What a great way to get rid of all the cards I have made over the past year or two!  I am going to include an AnyHero card in there as well, and am using the first Card Sketch from their blog, OWH Stars and Stamps as my inspiration.

This is a wonderful image from the Stampin Up set Courage.  I partnered the Red White and Blue with Kraft, and love the combination!  I also used the new Dots embossing folder on the red background and the star that I punched out.  To give some texture to the Navy, I simply embossed some stripes.

Inside I stamped the sentiment from this stamp;  what a wonderful quote!  For the Any  Hero card, I will write some things about what is happening here in Connecticut these days....these cards are given out to troops who may need a lift, may not receive mail from home, or just because.  They are addressed to "Any Hero" so they can be used for any branch of service.

So if you have a stash of cards just longing to be mailed, please consider Operation Write Home!

stamps:  Stampin Up Courage
Ink:  Night of Navy
cardstock:  Night of Navy, Whisper White, Real Red, Kraft
tools:  Star Punch, Dots Embossing Folder, Scor pal

  3. I love that sentiment stamp you put on the inside of the card! It's always so hard to think of appropriate things to say that are actually meaningful...
