Technique Twist Challenge 3 Waterstamping

Technique Twist Challenge 3!  Waterstamping!!  Such a fun and versatile technique!  I have  three samples for you today and will highlight some of the steps and tips along the way.

Here are the basic steps and I will refer to the card above.
  1. Take a piece of Whisper White cardstock, and using sponges or daubers, apply ink all over the piece.  The card above uses the colors Raspberry Ripple and Midnight Muse.
    • The trick?  darker color inks, light color/white cardstock
  2. Moisten a piece of paper towel and lay in a plastic tray. I use a large background stamp plastic box for my moistened paper towel.
    • The trick?  Not too moist...not too damp!  Just the right amount of water!
  3. Using the paper towel as your "inkpad", wet your stamp (above I used Ex Libris) and apply to the cardstock.
    • Extra fun....I added smooch spray to my watered paper tower for just a little glimmer (although you cannot see it in the picture)
  4. As the image dries, it will remove some of the ink and slowly the cardstock will show through.

card details:
Stamps:  Ex Libris, Lovely Romance
inks:  Midnight Muse, Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals
cardstock:  Naturals White, Whisper White, Midnight Muse
other:  sprinkles, paper towel/water, chalk talk framelits, gold smooch spritz

My second sample uses the same steps as above, just used a different background stamp and more monochromatic colors.  The layout is cased from the current catalog, page 62.

card details:
Stamps:  En Francais, Papaya Collage
inks:  Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Smoky Slate
cardstock:  Smoky Slate, Whisper White, Raspberry Ripple
other:  two way glue, dazzling diamonds, paper towel and water

My third sample is a bit more subtle, and shows the impact of applying the technique to light colors. In this sample, I used the Sunflower stamp, and had applied Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze to the whisper white cardstock.  I also added champagne smooch spray to the water.

card details:
Stamps: Sunflower, Million and One
inks:  Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso
cardstock:  Whisper White, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze
other: Champagne Smooch Spray, Twine, paper towel and water

Check out all the design team cards, try the technique and join our challenge!
