Paper Players Challenge 159: One Layer Card

I had an idea for the Expressions Thinlits Dies that I finally got around to executing when I saw today's The Paper Players one layer card challenge;  so yes, technically this card is all one layer!  I inlaid all the die cut pieces.

There are a couple of tricks to keep in mind when using the Expressions Framelits.
  • Use wax paper in between the cardstock and the die;  really helps get the letters out!
  • When you put through your big shot, put the die through so it goes perpedicular to the rollers.  In other words, if you have the Big Shot length-wise in front of you, have the die reading left to right.
  • Use your paper piercing tool to poke out the letters.  Once you get a few poked out the word comes out pretty quickly!
  • Be sure you keep the insides of the letters. So, first cut out the word from your card base (and keep the word for another project!) Then cut out the word again with the color cardstock you want to inlay.
  • I used a two way glue pen to glue everything together.
  • For the image, I stamped the image on Naturals White in Chocolate Chip, then again in Tangering Tango.  I used one of the Circles framelits along with the 1 1/4" punch to punch the ring out.  I used the two way glue pen here as well to glue and inlay everything.
  • If you are a perfectionist (and I admittedly are not!) it is difficult to not have the glue show on your card.  That is why I then spritzed it all over with Gold Smooch Spritz.  Kind of/sort of hides the glue...sort of..unless you get big blobs on the card like I did ...then you say...Whatever!  I spent too much time to do it all again!
I am going to try this same inlaid technique with the Festive Flurry Set.  Watch for that one in a few days!

Have a wonderful Sunday and thanks for looking!

  3. Hi Lauri! What a fab fall card! Thanks for the tips on the thinlits. I have them sitting on my desk but haven't opened them yet. I think the gold spritz is a great touch...who would have guessed it was there to cover up the glue blobs. Lol! Thank you so much for joining us this week at the Paper Players! :)
