Freshly Made Sketch 19 RED!...and a question for you!

Lots of red!! As usual, I took great liberty with the Freshly Made Sketch!  This is actually a pretty simple card, full of embossing.  The dotted background (and I rushed it, so I am sorry it is not the cleanest embossing work!) is the Dot, Dot, Dot background stamp, and I partnered it with Festive & Fun.  I also used one of the new edgelit dies for the scallop trim, along with one of the new border embossing folders, with little hearts!

I simply colored the image with a Real Red marker, and refrained from adding any additional anything....what do you think?

I have a question for you guys...I use Picasa to manage my photos, and have been using Picnik (embedded within Picasa) to edit my photos (changing the size, adding the watermark, etc).  But Picnik is closing!  (boo!!)  and I am looking for some suggestions on a free and easy alternative....I am trying to keep my life simple!  So if anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear!

Thanks!

stamps:  Festive and Fun, Dot,Dot,Dot
cardstock:  Real Red, Whisper White
inks:  Basic Gray, Versamark, Real Red marker
tools:  Edgelit Die Adorning Accents, Embossing Folder Adorning Accents

  1. I LOVE this--fresh & bright, no need for anything else!
I just use Picasa....I occasionally used Picnik if I wanted to adjust colors a little more, but I find Picasa very easy to use and I know you can put your photos right to blogger from the Picasa screen (although I use LiveWriter, so I have never used that feature). You can do watermarks, adjust the lighting, etc. with Picasa and it does a nice job.

  2. Love this red Valentine!! And I just use Picasa and have never heard of Picnik - or LiveWriter....nor did I know you could post to your blog from Picasa (Oh that LeAnne!!) so perhaps taking advice from me is not a good thing :)

  4. Gorgeous, Lauri! Love that pop of red with the white embossing! I don't have any suggestions for the editing since I use Picnik to add the watermark feature as well. I have been trying to look for alternatives so I am curious what you find out. I do remember using Picasa before it added Picnik and I was able to add text/watermarks that way. Maybe they'll go back to offering text once Picnik gets taken away by the ants? :)

  5. I just love a good old fashioned red Valentine! The sentiment is so cute too!

I use Photoshop Elements to edit my photos and add watermarks. It does WAY more than that but I never seem to have time to figure it all out! There's also some freeware called Gimp that is supposedly similar to Photoshop. I used it briefly a couple of years ago, but I don't remember much about it.

  6. Love all the red! What a great card! I use Gimp for watermarking. My editing is done in iPhoto since I am just learning my new Mac. Seems to work ok. Thanks for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!

  7. Wow ... love the red, what a great Valentine, and I love all the embossing too!
I am same as Jen, I use Photoshop Elements, but if I didn't have it, I would probably give GIMP a try ... although I have not used it, I understand that it is pretty good, can do quite a few things, and it is free!
