A Page of Memories

My mother passed away 19 years ago on April 23rd and I am starting to put together a scrapbook of old photos of my parents and their families.  This is actually the first page I have completed, and I believe this picture is probably my mom's engagement picture from 1949 or 1950 when she was 24 or 25 years old.

Stampin Up has a new designer paper series available starting in their Summer Mini Catalog called Presto Prints.  It is VERY cool paper!  Actually starting as white paper, it has beautiful patterns clear embossed that are revealed through sponging...brayering, spritzing and stamping.

To achieve this look, I sponged the paper with a combination of Barely Banana, Mellow Moss, Pale Plum and Close to Cocoa (thanks to my daughter for the color suggestions!)  After the sponging, I brayered a layer of Barely Banana all over the paper, finally spritzing with another new product from the Summer Mini Catalog...Smooch Spritz Gold Glow.

To bring out the colors, I matted the photograph in mellow moss, pale plum and barely banana, accenting the layout with a simple mat of mellow moss paper under very vanilla satin ribbon and pearls.  I decided to keep this very simple, perhaps I may just display it as a framed page instead of in a scrapbook.  I will share more as I make them!  Hope this inspires you to take out those old photographs!

  1. Lauri- you Mom was beautiful. I love her curly hair and I can sympathize with it too.LOL
Its so nice to get close to someone you haven't been able to by making a tribute to them. Scraping is bringing your heart out and sharing it.
Its a nice page. Take care and enjoy the journey.

  2. that is a gorgeous photo of her! I know you must miss her terribly. I miss my dad and he had been gone for almost 18 years. how lovely to put together this album of treasured photos. your page is amazing.
I might have to try some of that paper. I keep looking at it in the mini and wondering about it. now that I have seen it in action, it looks so much more enticing!
