The card that took hours to make

I saw this very cool technique over at The Daily Marker and had the bright idea that I could replicate it.  It took me hours because dang, it is a lot of coloring!

I will now attempt to justify why it took me so long.  The fact that is was 60 degrees and raining out made it seem like a good way to spend an afternoon!
  • The card is actually two layers.  The bottom layer is the large flower image from Regarding Dahlias stamped in Whisper White Craft ink on Vellum.
  • The top layer is the same flower stamped in Versamark and embossed in white on Smoky Slate.
  • I fussy cut the Smoky Slate layer so it covered about half of the card front.
  • I then colored (and this is what took the longest) the flowers using Raspberry Ripple and a Blender Pen.  I used the coloring technique where I scribble marker on an acrylic block and pick up color from the block.
I really really really like the look and am going to try it again with more colors and the white pen like Kathy, she is one talented lady!

Just a little peek inside!  Seemed like it took a long time, but I am someone who doesn't like to spend more than a half hour on a card so spending two hours felt like forever!

Have a good one!

  1. I second that. Time well-spent on a rainy day.

  2. This is stunning! It LOOKS like it took as long as it did which is so much better than the cards you spend and hour on that look like they took 15 minutes right? Gorgeous!
